Generally Paton

Sarena Paton has been entrenched in Canadian culture since her childhood. From the age of eight to 13, she had a recurring role on the beloved CBC children’s series Mr. Dress-Up and also played Velma Bugle on the classic Canadian show Road To Avonlea. Today, Paton splits her time between the screen and recording studio.
She is one of the brightest soprano artists in the country, mixing classical with a contemporary flair — a style well beyond her 27 years. Her latest album, La Carissima, features classic compositions in Italian and Latin, as well as crossover selections in Spanish and English. But Paton also uses her talents to support military veterans. Her great-grandfather fought in the First World War; her grandfather and grandmother both served in the Second World War. So grateful for their sacrifice, she penned her 2007 album Remember in honour of veterans and peacekeepers around the world.
Paton will pay tribute to them as she performs at the Canadian International Military Tattoo, taking place June 13-14 at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton. The soprano will continue touring through the Maritimes this summer, after which she’ll begin filming the Canadian movie Bounce.
